We would like to bring your attention to a recent safety alert issued by The National Candle Association (NCA) warning of unsafe plastic tea light cups made of Polystyrene entering the North American market. The NCA advisory states "The plastic tea-light cups of concern are foreign sourced cups made of polystyrene, a flammable material that poses a potential fire hazard for candle use."
Our cups are manufactured using only 100% clear, flame retardant polycarbonate, widely accepted as the safest polymer resin available for this application. Polycarbonate is a lightweight, transparent polymer which maintains a very high melt point and is practically impossible to shatter.
We encourage anyone manufacturing candles using plastic containers to ensure that their cups are made from safe, flame retardant plastics. Plastic candle containers being manufactured using Polystyrene, PVC (vinyl), Clear PET (Polyester) or Acrylic are not believed to be safe for use as candle containers.
